The October-December 2012 edition of the Army AL&T Magazine has an article on page 23 titled “Live Training Goes Mobile” that highlights PEO STRI’s focus on augmenting Live training with mobile devices. This article references Dignitas’ work with the TRACR Ültra Lite (TÜL) mobile application and our work supporting the development of the Mobile Product Line Architectural Framework (MPLAF). Under these two efforts, Dignitas is helping to define efficient and useful rich mobile applications to help the Warfighter.

Our TÜL effort allows for control of live range targets and live range scenarios in a mobile platform. TÜL serves as a mobile thin-client responsible for manipulating targets by interfacing through TRACR, a common target controller used at live-fire Army target ranges. The objective is to provide functionality in both live training and aid as a tool when conducting maintenance on the range and targets. TÜL is capable of working in both lane based and maneuver ranges.

Our Mobile Architecture Framework (MAF) effort is defining the product line approach for mobile applications to support Live training. This effort will provide architectural descriptions, guidelines, standards, service descriptions, and the MPLAF. One of its primary goals is to reduce cost and time for performing tasks essential to live training proficiency through the use of mobile devices. Another goal is to reduce development cost and time to produce, deploy, and train mobile device applications.

Dignitas Technologies, established in 2004, is dedicated to understanding customer Modeling, Simulation, & Training (MS&T) needs and providing specialized, architecture-centric, agile solutions. We specialize in system and software analysis, design, development, testing, and fielding of MS&T and mission rehearsal applications.
